Frewerd Family

Jesse Frewerd felt called to enlist in the US Army following the events of 9/11. He enlisted at the age of 19 years old. He deployed to Iraq in 2003. He served as calvary scout and completed over 200 escorts. While deployed he sustained severe injuries when his vehicle detonated an IED. Jesse was in the gunner position hit his head suffering TBI and a perforated ear drum. As a result of his service Jesse suffers from PTSD and injuries to his spine and back. He was honorably discharged in 2005. He received numerous awards of recognition for his service including: Army Commendation Medals, and Iraq Campaign Medal, National Defense Service medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Jesse is continuing his education and is currently pursuing a master’s degree and currently works as a veteran counselor with the Wisconsin State VA. helping fellow veterans access disability compensation.

Jesse’s wife Katie is also seeking a master’s degree and recently welcomed their first child a son. Jesse volunteers his time with several veteran organizations including Guitars for Vets. He and his wife often perform together.
